Thanks to all of you for keeping his memory alive! Make sure you do a blacktooth or 3 in his honor. RIP Jeffrey Mayhem Thompson, Nathan Bray & Erin Halk who also lost their lives trying to protect Dime.
This is Fallon. Over the last couple of years, he would visit the store from Montrose. His request each time was to play the “Pantera” guitar, meaning the Dean Dimebag Darrell ML Guitar. We were shocked he knew some Dimebag riffs. Fallon is impacted by Williams Syndrome and has an excellent knowledge and a love for music. His dream was to own this guitar.
Eight months ago, when he was in the store playing it, another customer took notice of Fallon. It moved this customer so much he returned to the store later, purchased the guitar, and asked us to give the guitar to Fallon anonymously the next time we saw him.
However, we didn’t see Fallon until today. We tried finding him to no avail. Today, his family came in the store, and we learned they had moved to Texas and returned this week for a visit. It was a wonderful experience to gift Fallon his dream guitar as a gift from a kind stranger. His mom burst into tears, and Fallon beamed with excitement. It was a special moment. There are still good people in this world.
Here are a few photos, a couple showing off his dive bomb face. (He is really proud of that face)
The world lost an amazing guitar player and all around awesome guy on this day 17 years ago. He was truly one of a kind! You can still see Dimebag Darrell’s influence on guitar players all over the world. Thank you all for keeping his memory alive! RIP Jeffrey “Mayhem” Thompson, Erin Halk & Nathan Bray who also gave their lives to help save Dime.
A few months ago, we brought you the first official Vinnie & Dime shirt. And now you can get the first “official” Abbott Brothers T-shirt. There are tons of bootlegs floating around. But the official shirts are sold exclusively through Vinnie & Dime’s official stores only! Pick one up today.
Heavy metal as a genre can be attributed primarily to Black Sabbath and their 1970 self- titled debut album, but the seeds of our beloved music and culture were sown much earlier.
Thanks to guitar manufacturers and designers like Les Paul and George Beauchamp, the electric guitar emerged during the 1930s and revolutionised the way that music sounded, injecting presence and volume into the blues and paving the way for the birth of rock’n’roll a decade or two later.

Despite being largely regarded as one of the greatest guitarist in heavy metal for his contributions in Pantera, his legacy can’t help but include his larger than life personality, and as his brother and longtime drummer Vinnie Paul would say, a heart as big as Texas.
Now, more than a decade later, metal fans gather in celebration on Thursday evening to show respect for their lost icon, and to put a resounding cap on the first day of NAMM 2018. Hosted by radio personality and “natural born headbanger” Jose Mangin and held at the Observatory in Santa Ana. I could tell it was going to be a good turnout when my parking location was so far from the venue, it had me bemoaning the fact that I hadn’t yet downloaded an app on my phone for counting steps, something I should be doing every year NAMM rolls around.
SoCal metal fans, don’t miss this! Santa Ana’s Observatory OC (3503 S Harbor Blvd) will host a massive DIMEBASH, fueled by Monster Energy, on Thursday, January 25! The event will be hosted by Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin and sponsored by Rock’D Vodka, Dean Guitars, Affliction Clothing, Dunlop and Metal Blade Records. The event is all ages and costs only $33 at the door. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the event starts at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available via www.observatoryoc.com.
DIMEBASH will feature an unprecedented all-star jam featuring members of bands such as Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies, Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, Fear Factory, Armored Saint, King’s X, Ace Frehley, Kyng, Cypress Hill, Biohazard, Powerflo, Fireball Ministry, Prong, Act Of Defiance, and more to come!
